Vacancy Details

PNRD Assam 2026 recruitment covers a total of 1508 posts across four designations:

Note: All posts are purely contractual and co-terminus with the respective programme tenure. No additional perks or allowances are provided beyond the monthly remuneration.

Selection Process

The PNRD Assam 2026 selection process is merit-based and consists of two stages:

  • Stage 1: Written Examination (OMR-based, 75 marks)
  • Stage 2: Viva Voce / Interview (25 marks)

Candidates who qualify the written examination are shortlisted for the interview stage. A final merit list is prepared post-wise and category-wise (UR / SC / ST(P) / ST(H) / OBC / MOBC). In the event of a tie, preference is given based on age and educational qualifications.

PNRD Assam Exam Pattern 2026

There are two separate papers based on the post applied for:

  • Paper-I: For Gram Panchayat Coordinator (GPC), Computer Assistant (CA), and Gram Rozgar Sahayak (GRS)
  • Paper-II: For Accredited Engineer (AE) — includes additional technical knowledge questions

Negative Marking Rules

  • 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer (for 1-mark questions)
  • 0.5 marks deducted for each incorrect answer (for 2-mark questions, if applicable)
  • Negative marking also applies if a candidate marks more than one option for a question
  • No marks are deducted for unattempted questions

PNRD Assam Syllabus 2026

The written examination is divided into five major sections. Both Paper-I and Paper-II follow this structure, with the Accredited Engineer (Paper-II) carrying additional questions on technical/domain knowledge relevant to Civil Engineering.

PNRD Assam Syllabus: Domain Knowledge

This section tests job-specific knowledge relevant to the post applied for. For GPC, GRS, and CA, questions cover rural development schemes, MGNREGA operations, PMAY-G guidelines, panchayati raj functioning, and government administrative processes. For Accredited Engineer (Paper-II), additional technical questions from Civil Engineering are included based on the required qualification (Diploma in Civil Engineering).

This section evaluates basic to intermediate computer skills, which are essential for all posts as computer proficiency is a mandatory qualification requirement.

  • MS Word — document creation, formatting, editing
  • MS Excel — spreadsheets, formulas, data entry
  • MS PowerPoint — presentations, slide design
  • Internet and Email usage
  • Operating System concepts (Windows basics)
  • Computer hardware and peripheral devices

PNRD Assam Syllabus : Logical Reasoning, Aptitude & Comprehension

This section of the PNRD Assam Syllabus tests analytical ability, numerical aptitude, and English language comprehension.

This section focuses on the historical and cultural heritage of Assam and India, which is a standard component of Assam state government exams.

  • Ancient, Medieval, and Modern History of India
  • Indian Independence Movement
  • History of Assam — medieval kingdoms, Ahom dynasty, British period
  • Culture, traditions, and festivals of Assam (Bihu, Rongali Bihu, etc.)
  • Major personalities from Assam and their contributions
  • Important historical events related to Northeast India
  • Art, literature, and music of Assam
  • Indian Constitution — fundamental rights and duties, directive principles

PNRD Assam Syllabus : General Knowledge

This section covers current affairs and general awareness about India and the world.

  • Current Affairs — national and international events
  • Indian Geography and environment
  • Indian Economy — recent developments, budget highlights
  • Science and Technology — latest developments
  • Sports — national and international events and awards
  • Awards and Recognitions
  • Important government schemes and policies

  • Static GK — capitals, currencies, headquarters of major organisations

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

PostRequired Qualification
Accredited EngineerDiploma in Civil Engineering + Diploma in Computer Application. Must be proficient in mobile applications.
GPC / GRS / CAGraduation in any discipline from a recognised university with minimum 50% marks + Certificate/Diploma in Computer Application.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years
  • Age relaxation applicable as per Assam Government rules for SC/ST/OBC/MOBC categories

Language Proficiency

Candidates must have good knowledge of English and Hindi in addition to Assamese, as communication with the Ministry of Rural Development (Government of India) is a key part of the job.

Application Details

  • Application Mode: Online only via the official website pnrd.assam.gov.in
  • Application Fee: NIL — there is no application fee for any category
  • Candidates will receive a registration number and password upon successful registration
  • Required documents: scanned photograph, signature, and supporting documents

Examination Centre

The examination centre will be mentioned in the Admit Card, which will be issued to eligible candidates after their applications are accepted. The centre is allotted based on the candidate’s permanent address mentioned in the application form. Candidates are advised to carry a valid photo ID along with their admit card on the day of examination.
