APPSC CCE: A Quick Overview

The exam runs across three stages. First comes the Preliminary exam, a screening round. Next is the Mains, which carries the real weight for ranking. Finally, there’s the Interview, or Personality Test. Each stage tests different skills, and the APPSC Arunachal exam syllabus shifts accordingly at every level.

  • Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (screening only, marks not counted for final rank)
  • Stage 2: Mains Examination (1750 marks, forms the core of your rank)
  • Stage 3: Interview (275 marks, added to Mains score)
  • Total marks for final merit: 2025

Let’s look at each stage closely.

APPSC Arunachal Exam Syllabus: Prelims Stage

The Prelims exam has two papers. Both are objective type, with negative marking for wrong answers. Clearing this stage alone doesn’t count toward your final rank. It only qualifies you for the Mains.

Prelims Paper I: General Studies

This paper carries 200 marks across 100 questions. You get two hours to complete it. Topics include:

  • Current events of national and international importance
  • History of India and the Indian National Movement
  • Indian and world geography
  • Indian politics and governance
  • Economic and social development
  • Environmental ecology
  • General science

Prelims Paper II: CSAT

This paper also carries 200 marks and runs for two hours. It tests reasoning and comprehension rather than pure knowledge. Topics include:

  • Interpersonal skills
  • Logical reasoning
  • General mental ability
  • Analytical ability
  • Basic numeracy
  • Comprehension
  • Decision making
  • Problem-solving

Both papers carry a penalty of one-third of the allotted marks for every wrong answer. Accuracy matters as much as speed here.

How to Approach Prelims Preparation

Start with NCERT basics if you’re new to the exam. Build on that with standard reference books for polity, geography, and economy. For CSAT, regular practice with reasoning and comprehension sets helps more than theory. Since this stage of the APPSC Arunachal exam syllabus rewards accuracy, avoid guesswork on questions you’re unsure about.

APPSC Arunachal Exam Syllabus: Mains Stage

The Mains stage is where the real selection happens. It includes one qualifying paper and seven merit papers, all descriptive in nature. Total marks for Mains stand at 1750.

Paper I: Essay

Candidates write essays on multiple given topics. Clear structure and precise language score better than long-winded answers. Staying on topic matters more than covering everything you know.

Paper II: General Studies I

  • Indian economy, planning, and resource mobilization
  • Agriculture, irrigation, and food security
  • Industrial policy and infrastructure development
  • Science and technology applications
  • Environmental conservation and disaster management
  • Internal security challenges and border area issues
  • Cyber security and organized crime linkages

Paper V: General Studies IV

This paper tests ethics, integrity, and aptitude through case studies. Key areas include:

  • Ethics in public and private life
  • Attitude, emotional intelligence, and values
  • Civil service aptitude and foundational values
  • Probity in governance and transparency
  • Case studies on ethical dilemmas in administration

Papers VI and VII: Optional Subject

Candidates choose one optional subject from a list that includes Agriculture, Anthropology, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology, History, Law, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Affairs, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Statistics, and Zoology.

Each optional paper has eight questions split into two parts. Candidates answer five questions total, picking at least two from each part. Choosing the right optional is a big decision, so pick a subject that matches your academic background or genuine interest.

APPSC Arunachal Exam Syllabus: Interview Stage

The interview, or Personality Test, is the final hurdle. It carries 275 marks, added directly to your Mains score for the final merit list.

This stage evaluates more than textbook knowledge. Panelists look at mental alertness, judgment, and awareness of current affairs. Knowledge of Arunachal Pradesh’s customs, traditions, and local issues carries real weight here. Candidates should also expect questions on their optional subject, academic background, and general awareness.

Tips to Prepare for the APPSC Arunachal Exam Syllabus

Preparation works best when it’s structured around the exam’s stages rather than random reading. A few practical pointers:

  • Start with NCERT books to build a strong foundation before moving to advanced material.
  • Follow a daily newspaper for current affairs relevant to both national and Northeast-specific topics.
  • Practice previous years’ question papers to understand the difficulty level and question pattern.
  • Revise the optional subject regularly, since it carries significant weight in the Mains.
  • Read the official APPSC notification carefully each cycle, since minor syllabus tweaks do happen.

Where to Find the Official Syllabus

The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission publishes the detailed syllabus PDF on its official website. Always cross-check the latest notification before finalizing your study plan, since exam patterns can be revised.
